White-browed Coucal song and calls

Song

The song is a distinctive, deep, bubbling or gurgling series of 'doo-doo-doo' notes, often accelerating and descending in pitch, sometimes described as sounding like water pouring from a bottle. It can be quite far-carrying.

Calls

Various calls include a harsh 'kwa-kwa-kwa' alarm call, a low 'hoo' contact call, and a series of clucking notes. The bubbling call is also used as a territorial advertisement.

When they vocalize

Most vocal during the breeding season, particularly in the early morning and late afternoon, but can be heard at other times of the day.
