Where does the Rufous-capped Babbler live?

Preferred environments

Dense undergrowth, bamboo stands, and lower to mid-story vegetation within montane forests. They prefer areas with good cover for foraging and protection.

Typically found at elevations between 600 and 2,500 meters, though local variations occur.

Where to look

Field tips

1. Listen for Calls. Their distinctive calls and songs are often easier to detect than spotting the bird itself in dense foliage. Once heard, try to pinpoint the location.
2. Look for Mixed-Species Flocks. Rufous-capped Babblers frequently join mixed-species foraging flocks. If you find one such flock, scan carefully for this species among them.
