Bewick's Swans do not have a complex song. Their vocalizations are primarily calls.

Calls

Their calls are distinctive, often described as a 'honking' or 'barking' sound, higher-pitched and more musical than the Mute Swan, but less bugling than the Whooper Swan. They produce a variety of calls, including a 'hoo-hoo-hoo' or 'kow-kow-kow' sound, often given in flight or when disturbed. Family groups communicate with softer, conversational calls.

When they vocalize

Vocalize frequently, especially in flight, when communicating within flocks, or when disturbed. More vocal than Mute Swans.
