Can be found in coastal mangrove forests, particularly where flowering and fruiting plants are present.

Spend most of their time high in the trees, so look upwards, especially in areas with mistletoe infestations.
Field tips
- Look for Mistletoe. Orange-bellied Flowerpeckers are highly associated with mistletoe. If you find trees with mistletoe, there's a good chance you'll find flowerpeckers nearby, as they feed on the berries and help spread the seeds.
- Listen for Calls. Their high-pitched calls are often easier to detect than spotting the tiny, fast-moving bird. Learn their 'tsip' and trilling calls.
- Scan Fruiting Trees. Focus your attention on trees that are currently fruiting or flowering, especially those with small berries. They are often seen darting between branches.
- Use Binoculars. Due to their small size and arboreal habits, good binoculars are essential for a clear view and to appreciate their vibrant colors.
- Be Patient and Observe. Flowerpeckers are very active. Find a good spot near a food source and wait patiently; they will often return to the same feeding areas.
