Hypothetical Seabird song and calls

Song

No true song. Vocalizations are primarily harsh, guttural calls and cackles, often given during courtship or territorial disputes at the colony.

Calls

A variety of calls, including a harsh, grating 'kraaaak' or 'kek-kek-kek' when agitated or defending territory. A softer 'coo-coo' or 'gurgle' may be heard between mates. Chicks emit high-pitched peeping calls.

When they vocalize

Most vocal during the breeding season at the colony, particularly at night or during periods of high activity. Generally silent at sea.
