Song

The male's song is a high-pitched, sweet, warbling series of notes, often described as a jumbled, rapid succession of phrases. It's similar to a Common Yellowthroat or Indigo Bunting song but typically more complex and varied, with a distinct 'sweet-sweet-sweet' quality. Each phrase is usually repeated 2-4 times.

Calls

Common calls include a sharp 'chip' or 'spik' note, often given when agitated or as an alarm call. They also have a softer 'tseep' contact call.

When they vocalize

Males sing frequently from prominent perches during the breeding season, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Calls are given year-round.
