How it forages

Blue-footed Boobies are spectacular plunge-divers. They fly high above the water, spot prey, and then dive headfirst into the ocean, often from heights of 10-30 meters (33-98 ft), to catch fish. They often hunt in groups, coordinating their dives. Their diet consists mainly of small schooling fish like sardines, anchovies, and mackerel, as well as squid.

When it feeds

Diurnal, active during daylight hours for foraging and breeding.
