Yellow-throated Vireo song and calls

Song

The song is a series of slow, deliberate, burry, and often slurred phrases, typically with a rising and falling inflection. It sounds like 'three-eight, three-eight, three-eight' or 'see-me, hear-me, where-are-you'. It is slower and more deliberate than the songs of Red-eyed or Warbling Vireos, and lacks the question-and-answer quality of the Red-eyed Vireo.

Calls

Common calls include a harsh, scolding 'churr' or 'vzeer', often given when agitated or in response to intruders. They also have a soft 'chip' note.

When they vocalize

Males sing frequently throughout the breeding season, from arrival in spring until late summer. They are most vocal in the mornings and evenings, and often sing from high perches within the canopy.
