Uccelli simili a Bar-tailed Godwit

Key differences

The Bar-tailed Godwit has a shorter, slightly upturned bill (vs. longer, straighter bill in Black-tailed), a white rump and barred tail (vs. white rump and black tail-band in Black-tailed), and lacks a prominent white wing-bar in flight (vs. broad white wing-bar in Black-tailed). Breeding plumage rufous extends further down the belly in Bar-tailed. Legs are also typically shorter in Bar-tailed.

Key differences

Much smaller than the Bar-tailed Godwit. While it also has a decurved bill and rufous breeding plumage, its size, shorter legs, and different bill shape (more decurved, less robust) easily distinguish it. Curlew Sandpipers also show a prominent white wing-bar in flight.
