Field tips
- Listen for their calls. Jungle Babblers are very vocal. Their constant chattering and scolding calls are often the first indication of their presence. Follow the sound to locate the group.
- Look on the ground. They spend a significant amount of time foraging on the ground, turning over leaf litter. Scan the base of bushes and under trees.
- Observe group dynamics. Since they are highly social, observing their interactions within the group can be fascinating and aid in identification. They often move together as a cohesive unit.
- Be patient and still. While noisy, they can be wary. Remaining still and observing from a distance will allow them to resume their natural behavior.
