Hadada Ibis look-alikes

Key differences

The African Sacred Ibis is predominantly white with a bare black head and neck, and black plumes on its back. It lacks the Hadada's iridescent plumage and loud call. Its bill is also black and less decurved.

Key differences

The Glossy Ibis is smaller and much darker, appearing almost black at a distance, but with rich chestnut and iridescent green/bronze plumage up close. It has a dark bill and lacks the white facial stripe and loud call of the Hadada. It is also more strictly associated with wetlands.

Key differences

The Olive Ibis is a forest-dwelling species, generally darker olive-brown, with a less prominent white facial stripe (or none) and a duller bill. Its call is also different, typically a series of 'kraa-kraa' notes. It is rarely found in open habitats like the Hadada.
