How it forages

A highly opportunistic predator. Its diet consists mainly of small mammals (rodents, rabbits), birds (eggs and nestlings), large insects, and carrion. It will also consume fruits, berries, and nuts when available. Hunts primarily at night or during crepuscular hours, using its keen eyesight and hearing. Often perches silently, swooping down on unsuspecting prey.

When it feeds

Primarily nocturnal and crepuscular, becoming active at dusk and remaining so through the night until dawn. Occasionally observed hunting during overcast days.
