Superb Starling look-alikes

Key differences

Hildebrandt's Starling has a similar iridescent blue-green upperparts and rufous belly, but it lacks the distinct white breast band of the Superb Starling. Instead, it has a narrow black band separating the iridescent breast from the rufous belly. Its eye is orange-red, not pale yellow.

Rueppell's Starling is entirely iridescent blue-green on the upperparts and breast, with a white belly and white undertail coverts. It lacks the rufous belly and white breast band of the Superb Starling. Its eye is also pale yellow, but the overall plumage pattern is distinct.
