Carnivore/Insectivore, primarily feeding on large insects (beetles, grasshoppers, crickets, dragonflies), but also small vertebrates like lizards, frogs, small birds, and rodents.

How it forages

A predatory insectivore. It hunts from an exposed perch, scanning the ground for prey. Once spotted, it swoops down to catch it. Larger prey may be impaled on thorns, barbed wire, or wedged into crevices for storage or easier consumption, a behavior known as 'lardering'.
