Kalij Pheasant song and calls

Birdsong and calls are often the easiest way to identify the Kalij Pheasant, especially when the bird is hidden in dense foliage. Below is what to listen for.

Song

Males produce a distinctive, loud, and often repeated 'chir-wee, chir-wee' or 'chur-chur-chur' call, particularly during the breeding season, used to attract mates and proclaim territory. Some subspecies have a more 'whistling' quality.

Calls
