Quaxly song and calls

Song

Males produce a soft, whistling 'whee-oo' call during courtship displays. This is not a complex song but rather a series of short, melodic whistles.

Calls

Both sexes emit a characteristic 'quax-quax-quax' series of calls, which is a rapid, somewhat nasal quacking. Females also have a louder, more insistent 'quack' used for alarm or communication with ducklings.

When they vocalize

Most vocal during the breeding season and when disturbed. Calls are heard throughout the day, particularly during foraging and social interactions.
