1. Look Low. Dunnocks spend most of their time foraging on or very close to the ground, often hidden within dense vegetation. Scan the base of hedges, bushes, and thickets.
2. Listen for the Song. While often hidden, their song is quite distinctive and can help pinpoint their location, especially in spring and early summer.
3. Be Patient. They are shy birds. Remain still and observe quietly; they may emerge from cover to forage.
4. Check Bird Tables. In winter, they may visit bird tables, especially those offering seeds or suet, but they usually prefer to feed on fallen food underneath.

Migrazione

Northern populations are migratory, moving south and west for the winter. Central and southern European populations are largely resident or undertake short-distance altitudinal movements. British and Irish populations are mostly resident.
