Song

Budgerigars do not have a complex song in the traditional sense. Their vocalizations are a continuous, varied chatter, incorporating chirps, warbles, and trills. Males are generally more vocal and may engage in more elaborate 'singing' displays to attract mates.

Calls

Common calls include a soft, rolling 'chirrup' or 'chatter' used for contact within the flock, a sharper 'cheet' or 'screech' when alarmed, and a rapid, excited 'chatter' during feeding or social interactions. They are known for their ability to mimic sounds and human speech in captivity.

When they vocalize

Vocalize throughout the day, especially when foraging, flying, and interacting socially. Calls are most frequent during dawn and dusk when flocks are gathering or dispersing.
