Canto

Blue Jays do not have a complex, melodious song in the traditional sense. Instead, they produce a wide variety of calls, some of which can be strung together into a soft, warbling, and often mimicry-filled 'whisper song' heard primarily during courtship or when alone.

Richiami

Highly varied and complex vocalizations. Most common calls include a loud, harsh 'JAY-JAY!' or 'QUEEDLE-QUEEDLE!' call. They also produce bell-like 'tool-ool' calls, clear 'teer-teer' calls, and often mimic the calls of raptors, particularly Red-shouldered Hawks and Red-tailed Hawks, presumably to scare other birds away from food sources. They have a wide repertoire of whistles, clicks, and gurgles.

Quando vocalizzano

Vocalize year-round, but calls are most frequent and varied during the breeding season and when mobbing predators. Mimicry is often heard during foraging or territorial displays.
