Calls

Most characteristic call is a drawn-out, mewing 'pee-yow' or 'kyaaaah', often likened to a cat's meow. This call is typically given in flight, especially during soaring displays or when disturbed. Also has a shorter, sharper 'kek-kek-kek' alarm call.
