Turkey Vulture look-alikes

Key differences

Black Vultures are smaller, have a shorter tail, and a black (not red) featherless head. In flight, they hold their wings flat (not in a dihedral) and have white patches only at the tips of their primary feathers, whereas Turkey Vultures have silvery-gray flight feathers along the entire trailing edge of the wing. Black Vultures also flap more frequently and erratically than Turkey Vultures.

Key differences

California Condors are significantly larger, have a pinkish-orange head (adults), and large white patches on the underside of the wings near the leading edge. Their flight is more stable and less wobbly than a Turkey Vulture's. Their range is also much more restricted.
