Common calls include a loud, single 'kyeer' or 'kleer' note, often given in flight or when alarmed. They also produce a variety of softer 'wika-wika-wika' calls.

When they vocalize

Most vocal during the breeding season (spring and early summer) for territorial defense and mate attraction. Calls can be heard year-round, especially when disturbed.
