Great Cormorants do not have a complex song. Vocalizations are generally limited to guttural calls.

Calls

A variety of deep, guttural grunts, croaks, and hisses, particularly around colonies or when disturbed. Calls include 'gra-gra-gra' or 'karr-karr'. Juveniles may beg with persistent, reedy calls.

When they vocalize

Most vocal during the breeding season at colonies, during courtship, and when interacting with chicks. Generally silent away from the colony.
