A patient and stealthy hunter. It typically wades slowly in shallow water, often standing motionless, waiting for prey to come within striking distance. It then uses its long neck and dagger-like bill to spear or snatch fish, amphibians, insects, and small reptiles or mammals. Occasionally, it will run or shuffle its feet to stir up prey.
